I have to say that the Megaformer Pilates is one of the best workouts I have ever had.

Let’s recap… If you were a fly on the wall during my first class, pretty sure you would’ve laughed your wings off!

(I had a tough time keeping up with the pace and lingo….)

That night and the next morning my WHOLE body was sore and wow did it feel good…from there I became a megaformer addict.

A good definition of the megaformer workout:

“The Megaformer workout is designed to develop core strength and muscular endurance, which means you will burn calories and work your muscles to fatigue with high repetitions,” says Michele Olson, Ph.D., an exercise physiologist and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine

You can also burn up to 800 calories in one session and it is just an all around great full body workout.

I highly recommend this workout!

Don’t be discouraged by all the different moves and names you’ll get the hang of it by the second or third time ;)

What is Gluten?

what is gluten

What is gluten?

Today there are so many products that say “Gluten Free” and its become the new health

craze. So what is gluten?

In short,

Gluten is made up from two different proteins gliadin and gluten that are found in wheat, rye, barley and triticale. Gluten holds food together almost like a glue like substance.

For people with celiac disease it is SUPER important for them to stay the heck away from gluten.

Why?

People that are gluten intolerant produce an abnormal response when breaking down gluten that damages their intestines making it difficult for them to absorb vital nutrients.

The most common form of gluten intolerance is celiac disease which affects 1 in every 141 people in the US according to the National instituues of Health.

It is best to avoid these foods ingredients that contain gluten, including bread, beer, french fries, pasta, salad dressing, soy sauce and even some soups unless it is marked as “gluten-free”.
